Jeffrey Nattans Obituary, Death – Calvert Hall Board Chair Remembered for Leadership, Service and Devotion

Calvert Hall College High School is mourning the loss of Jeffrey “Jeff” Nattans ’85, a longtime alumnus, trustee, student-athlete, and dedicated supporter of the school. Nattans passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 59.

Nattans’ connection to Calvert Hall extended far beyond his years as a student. A proud member of the Class of 1985, he returned to the school as a leader and joined its Board of Trustees in July 2013. He ultimately became chair of the board, providing thoughtful guidance and helping support the institution’s mission and long-term future.

During his time at Calvert Hall, Nattans stood out both academically and athletically. He was a two-sport athlete in soccer and basketball, experiences that became an important part of the foundation for his later life of leadership and service.

His achievements at the school continued to be recognized long after graduation. In 2002, he was inducted into the Calvert Hall Alumni Hall of Fame as its youngest inductee at the time. He was also inducted into the Maryland Soccer Hall of Fame in 2008.

Remembering Jeffrey Nattans

Calvert Hall described Nattans as a man whose leadership was marked by wisdom, integrity, generosity, and deep devotion to the school. His influence was not limited to boardroom decisions; he was also remembered for his friendship and the personal relationships he developed within the Calvert Hall community.

His commitment to education and service extended beyond Calvert Hall. Nattans served on the Board of Trustees of Loyola University Maryland and was also involved with Catholic Charities of Baltimore. At Loyola, he was remembered for his humility, kindness, mentorship, and willingness to give his time and expertise to help others.

Professionally, Nattans was a partner at Black Diamond Financial and had previously held senior positions with organizations including Sagamore Ventures, Franklin Templeton, Legg Mason, Goldman Sachs, and Deloitte. He also earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1996.

Despite his professional and athletic accomplishments, those who knew him emphasized his character. He was remembered as accomplished yet humble, someone who consistently focused attention on others rather than himself.

Nattans is survived by his wife, Karen; their son, Spencer; his parents, BG Joe Nattans Sr. and Linda; his stepmother, Donna; and his brothers, Joe Jr. and John.

His death represents a significant loss for the Nattans family, Calvert Hall, Loyola University Maryland, Catholic Charities, and the many friends and colleagues whose lives he touched.

Jeffrey “Jeff” Nattans leaves behind a legacy built on education, athletics, professional achievement, leadership, and service. Above all, he will be remembered as someone who remained deeply devoted to his community and used his success to help strengthen the institutions and people he cared about.
